Forests and Roses

Ah summer. No school, no school traffic, no schedule to keep. Lovely.

We went to the in-laws' for a cookout on Memorial Day. The MIL has roses growing on either side of her driveway. Beautiful, even the ones with slight imperfections. Sometimes it's these that make them beautiful.

And then before we left, the hubby snitched me one. Gorgeous.

I have had a bit of progress on my Forest Path Stole. I have almost completed the 12 th tier. I just may get this finished this summer.

Here's a little closer pic of the newest progress.

And just for kicks, an emo Care Bear pic my nephew gave me.

Almost as cute as my favorite version.

OMG! I'm famous!

I'm am a big YouTuber. I don't make videos, but I watch lots of them. I am subscribed to quite a few channels and spend a good amount of time on there watching all kinds of things.

One of the channels I subscribe to is tushygalore. She's just awesomely cute and cool to watch. On one of her videos she showed that she was working on some crochet granny squares. And a little lightbulb went off in my head, and I thought I would make her something.

I had a pattern for a bookmark, and it seemed perfect for her. So I made it. Then I kind of had a little self doubt and thought maybe it was too silly, so I didn't send it. But then I watched another of her videos of her and her boyfriend, they are such a cute couple. And he said that anyone who wanted to should send her some mail. Being that she had a P.O. Box and was a little sad that there was hardly ever anything in it. I thought that was so sweet of him.

So I decided to send it to her. I wrote her a little card and off it went.

Tonight, before bed, I thought I'd check YouTube to see if there were any new vidoes. And she had posted one. And on it she talks about my card, and shows what I made! I was so happy and giggling and jumping around. It just made my day.

I feel like a famous person now, getting mentioned on the YouTube. hahaha

Thank you Tushy and Falcon.

Something fishy going on here

You Are a Mermaid

You are a total daydreamer, and people tend to think you're flakier than you actually are.

While your head is often in the clouds, you'll always come back to earth to help someone in need.

Beyond being a caring person, you are also very intelligent and rational.

You understand the connections of the universe better than almost anyone else.

3 Years and counting

Yesterday it has been 3 years since I started blogging on this here blog thingy. Time flies don't it?

I've been doing a little crafting. I had intended on making things for my mom and mother-in-law for Mother's Day. But busyness interrupted me and I didn't finish. But since I had so much progress on my mom's, I decided to just go ahead and finish it anyways.

Did I mention it turned out to be HUGE? That wasn't intended, but I guess it can be a couch doily now. Here is a closer view so you can see the edging.

And then I started on the Hexagon Swirl Shawl. Quick little hexes, although fiddly at times. Starting small lacy things on DPNs usually are.

A closer view of one. These are smaller than intended, because I am using laceweight instead of sock weight.

And then my eldest daughter did a project for the science fair.

She won 2nd place.

And she was in a little music program and dressed up in 50's garb. This is a recycled poodle skirt, homemade of course. I wore it when I was in school and for Halloween.

Back view showing the ponytail.

And she wanted to spin and let it flounce out.

Well that's it for today. I have started working on my FPS again. At least until something else gets my attention.

Animal! Animal!

You Are Animal

A complete lunatic, you're operating on 100% animal instincts.

You thrive on uncontrolled energy, and you're downright scary.

But you sure can beat a good drum.

Games and Horror Flicks

Take this test!
Who says video games are only for introverts? Not you! Get ready for a massive multiplayer online gaming experience: You are social, personable, and smart — just like World of Warcraft. So it's no wonder you'd love being at the heart of a game that's attracted so many unique people, and always provides a bit of a social and mental workout.

Sure there's the downside of not being able to meet your comrades face-to-face, but hey, you'll never be lonely again when you've got over 10 million friends at the tips of your fingers. Now you just have to figure out if you want to be a druid, mage, or rogue. Careful though — don't get addicted!

Take this test!
Just picture it: You're living with creepy little Satan-worshipping kids in the middle of nowhere. Sounds fun, right? Okay, maybe not. But like the children who lived in the field, you are definitely anything but normal. Always one to question authority and choose your own path, you are a rebel to your core.

Unlike your movie match, it'd be hard to find a mean bone in your body — you just love watching kids being bad. Just remember not to take any wrong turns — you never know where you might end up!

Wands at the ready!

I found this at Ollivanders Wand Shop. Where else would a respectable witch or wizard get their wands?

Their descriptions are thus:

Maple: Maple is a favorite wood for magical wands and has an excellent longevity. Maple wood often symbolizes attraction, luring, drawing in, or bringing things together. It has very positive energy. This wand tends to choose those who have a love an appreciation for beautiful things. It is an excellent wand for love spells and also for Divination.

Phoenix Feather: The Phoenix Feather comes from the tail feathers of a Phoenix, and is especially good with fire or defensive magic, as well as healing magic. This may be due largely to the healing properties Phoenixes have.

Yes I know it's old, but they were talking about it on the new PotterCast #150. So I thought I would see what I would get.

16 Years

That sounds really long. Me and the Hubby have been married 16 years today. So I thought I'd take you on a trip down memory lane.
Here are a couple of pics from when we first met and one Christmas.

Here are a couple from our first wedding. It was done spontaneously in one day.

And here are some from our second, formal wedding. We had the second since the first was a spur of the moment thing.

And this is what I think of as our best picture ever taken.

Ah the good old days.
Happy Anniversary baby!
