Home Sweet Home

Man, if I thought I was busy before, I can't imagine how busy I will be. We just got ourselves an apartment! Hopefully by the end of September we will be moved in. It's gonna be so nice. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and air conditioning! The kitchen also comes fully loaded. So here for awhile posts may be few and far between. But I will post some pics when I can. Mostly of befores, cause it will take us a bit to get it all moved.

Also, my oldest girl just had a Birthday Saturday. We were told we had the apartment the day before so we kidded her that that was her present. But she thought that was a great one.

Switching schools may be the only hard part. But only because it's the beginning of the school year. But they already told us they didn't care just as long as we'd have a place of our own.

More as soon as I can.

New toys

Well not brand new. I got a printer/scanner/copier a while back. The printer and copier worked fine. But the scanner wouldn't. So I got a 1G stick of memory and now everything works much better.

Here's the first thing I scanned.



Aren't they cute? This was the picture they took in a little photo booth at the mall.

And here is a scan of the iPod sock I made.



Oh this opens up all sorts of possibilities doesn't it?

An apple a day...

Sunday we went to my nephew's bitrthday party. We have the same birthday. And this year we got the same present. An iPod Shuffle. But seeing as how it's all plain and white, I had to do something to jazz it up a bit. So I made a "sock" for it.



I left an opening at the bottom for the headphone cord. I also made a little chain to tie it at the top. It came with it's own lanyard so I didn't have to do a really long i-cord. I used lace-weight merino with size 2US double points. So making an i-cord at that gauge would have taken forever.



It's so cute and tiny. And this will also help me from banging it up too bad.

And as I promised, here are a couple pics of my mobius. The first shows how it looks like it is just done in the round.



But stretched out you can see how it is being worked, and the lace pattern.



Only ten rows left and it will be done. Woohoo! If the weather stays mild like this much longer, there is no telling what else I can work on. I so missed knitting all the time.

Harry, Carrie, Garp and birthday cake

MSN had a free showing of "An Evening with Harry, Carrie & Garp". This is where Stephen King, J. K. Rowling and John Irving got together at Radio City Music Hall and did readings from their works. It was completely awesome and a great birthday present.

Yeah, another year come and gone. Why is it that you never feel older on your birthday, but that it just seems to creep up on you all of a sudden afterwards?

Ah, but it was a great day. Heh. Yeah the kids started school. They only went half a day. On a Friday. Sound dumb to you too? Yeah I thought it did. So having to get up early and fight all the traffic. Then going back to get them not long afterwards and wondering how some of these people got licenses, not to mention how they managed to have kids. But other than that it was ok. Just another day to me. Man, I never thought the day would come when I wouldn't be excited about my birthday anymore. But once the kids are born, it just doesn't seem as big a deal.

I did a little knitting the other day actually. I started the Mobius Cowl/Shawl that Cat Bordhi did on Knitty Gritty Monday. It's a cool technique and kept my interest until the weather got hot and sticky again. When I get some time, I'll show you.

Three hours the first dip. They'll all be prunes before the summer is over with.

I have been playing around with another pattern.



That's my practice piece. Kind of like a guage swatch too. But I am just using sock yarn at the moment to work out how the pieces get put together. This will be a long term project. Especially if I actually get to use Koigu. But it's fun playing with.
