Grease Monkey Knitting

My hubby decided to be sweet to me again today. He got a new tool box at work. A huge one that all his tools will fit in. So he is giving me one of his smaller ones. Why you ask? Why, to put all of my knitting goodies in of course.

It has a flip-top lid over the top compartment. A little table-top on the side that you can put up or down. Some sliding drawers and an open compartment on the bottom. It also has a small lock box on the side. All of the drawers lock too. It is all in black. Yes I know you all think I am only a purple person, but black is my all time favorite color.

No the tools will not be in there when it comes home. More pics when it gets here!

Handwriting Meme

I saw this over at Snow's and thought it would be fun.

Here’s how the meme is supposed to work, if you want to play along:

Write a pangram on a piece of paper, sign your first name, take a photo of it and load it onto your blog, or upload into the flickr pool.

Hitting a Rolling Stone in the road

Yeah, not really. Just a bump. I was merrily going along working on my Celtic, when I saw this.

Just for reference, this is what it should look like.

So, knowing that it would drive me nuts to leave it that way, I had to do this.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Scary looking isn't it? Well I fixed it and it now looks better.

Image hosting by Photobucket

I finished up the upper front and picked up and finished the neckband.

Then I joined the upper front and upper back. Included the stitches for the underarm and did a few rows in the round.

Pretty cool progress, huh? It's getting there. I may finish this sweater yet.

Oh and as far as the Rolling Stone reference. Look what I found.

Sorry about the grainy look. It is bright red so my camera didn't want to show it. This book goes for $40.00. I found it for $3.94. Cool huh? And on the actual cover, it has the logo embossed into it.

It has loads of cool pictures. I am sure it will be an interesting read.

Did you have a nice holiday?

Today is the kid's last day off. They have been out of school since Thursday. So back to the same old routine tomorrow. But they don't have much more time to go before summer vacation. I am looking forward to it. No going back and forth to school every day. Just taking it slow and easy and only going somewhere if we want to. And I told them I would teach them to knit during their vacation. They have needles and they picked out their yarn. If they like it as much as me, that will keep them busy all summer.

We went down to my sis-in-laws house yesterday. They have more yard room for hunting eggs. We all had a good time. The kids stayed outside most of the time. While the adults got the food ready and were having samples. You know we all had to make sure it was good, right? It was all delicious and we all got too full.

I took pictures of the kids, but as usual my crappy camera only gave me fuzzy out of focus pics. But I did take two with my phone. So I just might be taking more with it from now on.

Hope everyone had a fun time.

And in other news, my hubby likes the Mermaid jacket and says he'll get me the kit for our Anniversary. Isn't he sweet?

Fishy Dreams

First, I got something in the mail today. The Shrone sent me my official Shrone card! Now I can really cause some trouble.

Image hosting by Photobucket

And I have a little more progress on my Celtic Dreams. The upper back is finished and I have picked up and started the upper front. Pretty good progress for me.

And now to the fishy part. I am obsessing again. I have had a one track mind about a project for some time now. So I have decided not to buy anything else knitty or anything that would be considered a non-necessity and save up for it. This is going to be my first major knitting purchase. This will also be the first actual knit kit I have bought. I usually just get the pattern and then get the yarn later.

I want to do Hanne Falkenberg's Mermaid 7. I just can't help myself. All that lovely purply goodness. The Purple, Lilac, and Aubergine colors are great together.

I really must blame this on Annie. She made a Mermaid and it is beautiful. Go see for yourself and tell her so.

Ok I am off to work on Celtic and think about Mermaid some more.

Keep on keepin' on

I just want to thank everyone who sent their thoughts and kind words my way. I really appreciated it. It really did help some.

I was in a sort of limbo for a while. Not really sure what I would do or how I was supposed to feel. It's bad enough to have someone you know die, it's altogether another thing to have to deal with so much more than that when it happens.

I decided not to go to any of the services. He didn't want me there. He had told me so, bluntly, the last time I heard from him. And then to top it all off, I found out he had totally written me out of everything. So that told me more than anything that he wanted no more contact of any kind. And is one of the things that really helped me decide not to go. That part doesn't matter to me in the least bit. I would have rather had a father that was kind, than to have his money or belongings. And I just couldn't go be in the room with a bunch of people I didn't know or hadn't seen in a long time.

~

So now that I can think of other things, I thought I'd share some new stuff with you.

First, we have actual knitting. I had started the
Celtic Dreams sweater the week before all this happened. (the link is to a direct picture, but I ordered it from Black Water Abbey) In fact, I was working on it the night I got the news. While I was watching Walk The Line. Which is a good movie by the way. I haven't picked it back up since, but I will. I really do love the pattern. And of course all those yummy cables. Here is my progress so far. This is the upper back and saddles.

And then I went to the frog pond and ripped out the progress I had on a double-knitted throw I was doing. I found a pattern I liked better. It is the True Love Afghan. The pattern book it comes from is here.

I just love hearts, so I thought it would be fun. And it's realaxing working with both hands at once. There isn't much progress, I just started. But it's almost 500 sts per row. You are working both sides at once, so double the sts.

And then, there had to be therapy right? The new bookbookbook! And in it, the Yarn Harlot's very own sock recipe. That alone was a high selling point. And then the Diary of Ellen Rembauer. You know I am a huge Stephen King fan, and love the movie Rose Red. So I thought this would be fun to read.

Image hosting by Photobucket

And then I just saw this out on a stand in the ailse when I was last at the store. It was cheap, and I have wanted to read it for a long time, so I got it. I just finished it today. Love it, love it. I highly recommend it.

And then of course, I had to get a little therapy for us all.
