Game Off!

And so ends the Knitting Olympics. And now we endure the agony of defeat. The ones of us who didn't finish that is. Congratulations to all the knitters who finished. Looking forward to at least getting to see the gold, even if I can't actually hold it myself. I never diluted myself enough to think I would actually finish this thing, but I did get farther than I have with any other lace project. So that's good right? Improving my personal best is what it's all about anyway. And since I still am enjoying it, I will finish. Just may take a little while longer. But here is the next part completed. This is the fruit and flower section.

Only 3 more colors to go. If I look at it that way, the charts don't seem so long.

I can't feel down for long though. Not with things like this to keep me smiling.

Yes, I am still knitting away. But I don't want to show a progress pic until I finish the chart I am on. I am just funny that way. But here are a few funnies I found that I thought you would like. You know, something for you, for the trouble you took to come and read me.

I found this at Mouse's place.

I can relate to number 6. I have always felt cat-like at times. Maybe that's why I dressed up as a cat so many times on Halloween. It could also be cause I am a Leo. But I like the word "Wickedomancy". I can really live with that.

Olympic Trials

They call it that for a reason, don't they? As I sat knitting merrily along on my lace, I came to a row that didn't match up. It didn't add up. It was WRONG. I didn't understand. I counted and counted and recounted. Still wrong. So last night, I had to let go of 4 rows of knitting.

To any normal knitter, this would just be a quick trip to the frog pond. I am not saying it wouldn't be a hurtful trip, but quick. I am not a normal knitter. Not with lace anyway. I have to un-knit my mistakes. One stitch at a time. So, I un-knit 4 rows. Of LACE. You see the mental picture, right?

Well it was kind of theraputic. Yes, I meant that. I was just merrily (well maybe not) un-knitting my lace, watching t.v. so I could kind of get my mind off of it. And after I had it back to normal, I actually did put in a lifeline. I don't ever do this cause I just don't like it, but I didn't want to have to do it again. At least not this soon.

Well, before I tried again, I went to the message boards and looked to see if anyone else had the same or similar problems. They did and I took notes. Today I re-knit those 4 rows and 3 more rows on top of that. It seems to be back in order, so I can breathe. I will resume tonight after LOST. Hope everyone else is having better luck.

Could be

Hello Olympians. How are your events going so far? Hopefully all of you are doing well. I am having such fun with this pattern. I don't know why I waited so long to do it. Here are the dewdrop and chariot wheel sections done. It is kind of awkward trying to show it. Hopefully it will be easier to stretch out when it gets bigger.

And is it just me, or could it also be a hat?

Have fun everyone.

Game On!

The Knitting Olympics are open! Are we all ready to have some fun? Good.

The opening ceremonies were great. It's hard to say what my favorite part was. There were so many wonderful things going on. When the Ferrari did the donuts, that was one of my favorites. Never thought you'd see that at the Olympics did you?

Was it just me or was Pavarotti lip-synching? If so, that was just wrong. I mean at a concert that's one thing, but at the Olympic ceremonies? Come on. And I really think they could have gotten someone better to do "Imagine". There is nothing wrong with Peter Gabriel, but he didn't do it justice. And who else thought that Yoko Ono was going to sing when she got up there? We barely scraped by that one huh? Ok enough politically incorrectness, on to the knitting.

I have to say I really am digging this pattern. It goes pretty fast (for me anyway) and I really am having fun with it. It is kinda weird though. It's almost like doing a hat. Like starting at the top and going down to the brim. And the fact that it is going to turn square as it goes along. It just feels funny. But I guess that's just me. But enough of that, here is the Rosy Fingers portion of the shawl.

If you haven't seen it yet, there is a link on YarnHarlot's blog where you can put your mark on the Knitting Olympics Frappr map. Go do it and see how many of us there really are.

Good luck to all the knitters!

First snow

Just in time for the Olympics, it snowed. Every other county here had closed schools today, not ours. Of course. So after I took the older kids to school, the little one had to play a little.

Is everybody ready to start tomorrow? I sure am!

In other news: The hubby got me the new Stephen King book "Cell". I haven't finished it yet, but already I highly recommend you check it out. If you go to Amazon.com, you can watch his interview with Bill Maher on the Amazon Fishbowl.

Thursday, February 02, 2006

Ok, it's official

The lovely, talented, wise, etc., etc., (insert any other nice words you can think of here) Snow, sent me yarn so I can do my Rosy-Fingered Dawn Shawl! Thank you, thank you , thank you, 100 times thank you! It is so pretty, I just can't wait to start. The pinks look slightly orange in the picture so if you want to see the real colors, just go to Knit Picks and see their Palette colors.

I will now officially join the Knitting Olympics. Oh boy.

And I do have some progress to show. Here is my first I-cord glove finished. I have the other fingers done too so I can start the other one soon.

I don't have a picture because it wouldn't take well, but I also finsihed the main portion of my crocheted muff. When I can get a decent picture, or more progress with the roses, I will post about it again.

And here is some things just for fun. First we have a word cloud. I saw this on Snow's blog.

And then we have some Lego people. You can go here and customize your own. These are of me and hubby of course.
