Stash Enhancement and eggs

Well it was bound to happen. I walked freely into the goodwill store and knew exactly what I was looking for. I went right to the spot where all the yarn usually hangs out, and there it was. A bag of yarn just sitting there, waiting. There were 7 skeins. A couple were used a bit, but still was a lot of yarn. And it boasted a price of only $4.98. How could I resist?

Then there were some magazines and pattern books. I found one for crocheted animals. One of my sons was with me and he thought it would be a good idea to get it. To tell you how old this is, it calls for using L'EGGS Eggs for the shaping. You can also use stuffing, I think that would be my best bet. I really don't think I would have much luck finding any. It only cost 10 cents.

I already have orders for one puppy, one elephant and two bunnies. Well, I guess that will be another project to start sometime soon. Then my son found a bag of army men with enough to split between the 4 of them. As soon as we got home, we divided them up and they set up for war. That ought to keep them busy for what, 5 minutes?

And then there were 2

Well I was feeling bad because I was neglecting the socks while working on my stole. So I sat down and finished them today. So now I have not one, but two pippi kneestockings! Yeah!

And they do actually fit.

Although I said I'd never put my picture on here. Hehehehehe!

So now I can do the happy dance and feel the joy of another FO!

You know right now you are hearing the Charlie Brown music go through your head! Who's gonna be humming that all day? Heehee!

Blobs of yarn and Father's Day

Wow, when you get busy time just flies away from you. We did have a great time Father's Day. I did actually remember to get a picture of hubby and kids.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I was asked what yarn I was using for my mystery stole. I have no idea. It is just some yarn someone gave me. A big blob of yarn, with no label. It's not even in the package it came in. So I thought I would put up pictures of it.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

See it looks just like a big blob doesn't it? I put a ruler on top of it to give you an idea of how much of it there is.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Oh, and it gets better. I also have another blob of yarn. It is lighter, and there is more of it. But it is the same length (blob-wise) as the other.

I have no idea the weight either. I am just using it because there is (seems to be) a lot of it. I laid it next to regular worsted weight to give you a comparison. Not a very good picture. The one for the stole is maybe half the size of the worsted, maybe less.

Ok, I think I am over putting pics up today. You know, sometimes you just gotta share.

Clue 2

Moving right along. I finished clue 2 and now am working on clue 3. This one will keep me busy for awhile as one full repeat is 84 rows. And being short, I am probably only going to do 4 full repeats. Then it will just be to wait for the next clue. But I know I still will be working on it by the time that clue is posted.

Tomorrow is Dad's Day and we are all meeting at hubby's mom's and dad's. So I am pretty sure no knitting will be done. We are always so tired after hanging out over there all day. Especially the kids. They usually only see their cousins at these get togethers: birthdays, holidays. Hopefully I will get some good pics of the kids and the hubby. Need some new ones.

Here is another progress pic of the stole.

KAL

I have officially started my very first Knit-Along! It is the Mystery Stole KAL. I finished the first clue today and took a progress pic. This is the first time I ever did the provisional cast on and the first time I used circular needles. But I didn't feel awkward using them. More updates as I work up the next clues.

I will put the button here for now, as Blogger is not letting me put it on the side bar without totally changing my layout. So click-it and take a visit if you want.

Mystery and shoes

I have joined a KAL. It is a mystery stole KAL. Which means you get only parts, or clues, of the pattern at a time. So far I have been writing it out. Since it is partly graphed, I need to do this to make sense of it. So soon I hope to be starting it, and when I do I will add the button and link for it. No sense in jumping the gun.

That is pretty much all I have had time for the past few days. Life has a way of grabbing you and throwing you down. And then something happens despite all that to make you smile.

I was reading blogs today and the baby sat down beside me and decided she wanted to wear her sandles. She didn't ask me to help and I just thought she was playing, as she was muttering happily along. Then she said look and I did and she had them on. She did it all by herself. I was so proud and so was she. So I took her picture.

Bonnaroo

I can safely say that I almost had a heart attack last night. I was sitting there watching tv, knitting my sock, and the preview for the news came on. They said someone died at Bonnaroo. My hubby's best friend was there. I was so afraid it could be him. I sat on pins and needles until I heard that the person was older than him. Phew, is all I could manage. But then I kept on knitting and finally calmed down.

The kids did their little program last night and it was good. So now we can relax since we have no more scheduled trips for every night.

Since I did make some progress I thought I would take a pic. I only have 2 more stripes then I will be at the heel flap. It will go fast after that point. Yeah!

Other Stuff

Been busy with other stuff these days. The last night of VBS was last night. The kids were very excited because they were having a pizza party afterwards. They have their little program Sunday night where they will sing and then that's it. Yeah. Then we can go back into the lull that is summer. Yeah right. LOL.

Well I am going to start a lace project soon. My very first. As soon as those needles get here, shhhh! But they are for another project too, so I don't feel soooo bad about it. It is part of a knit-along. As soon as I make sure I can do it, I will post more info.

Since I don't have any knitting to show off, I am still working on the sock though, I thought I'd show something I made a while back. It is a needle roll. I saw the ones you can buy for around $20, and wanted to have a good one but just couldn't make myself spend that on one. So I got the stuff and made my own. It only cost around $6. I don't hardly ever sew on a machine, and the one I used is ancient, but the roll serves it's purpose. There are plenty of pockets for all the needles, but some of them are hiding in projects right now. And I even thought to put in a wider one for the circulars.

For the man who has everything

I finished my hubby's present. It is a little bit of a novelty, but he might get a kick out of it. I think it is safe to post it cause I am sure he will get it before he sees this. I introduce to you:

The Cig & Lighter Holster

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It has a place for the cigs, a place for the lighter (Zippo of course), and it even has a belt loop for his convenience. The skull on the front was from a design in the SnB Handbook.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I lined the inside of the pockets for stability.

And here is a look at the back.

Is that just cute or what? Well all I can say is if he doesn't like it, I will keep it. I don't smoke, but I'd find a use for it. I didn't do all that work for nothing. LOL.

DISCLAIMER: In no way is this meant to encourage smoking.

Busy, busy, busy

Well my kids started VBS yesterday. They were just so excited to go. They asked all day, "Is it time to go yet?" Then I had to stay with the little one, she didn't want to be alone with all these new faces at first. When we got home it was, "We had a great time, can't wait till tomorrow." So I will be doing that for a week.

Still planning how to make the surprise for hubby. I am thinking about it first, planning what I want to do. I know what I will make, I just have to decide color and how exactly to do it. I only have 13 days, so I guess I better get with it huh?

Still working on the sock. Haven't made a lot of progress, been kinda under the weather. That kind where you can't concentrate or have too much noise. It will go away eventually, then I can jump right back to it.

Since I posted the kids pic, I thought it only fair to show off the hubby. He agreed, so here he is, my heart and soul...

The Wonderful World of Web-sites

Well I have been reading blogs and just wandering around the Internet for the past couple of days. Some days it just sucks you in and you can't help it. Like yesterday, I was looking at LOTR sites and happened onto one about the Hobbit. It was this little site mainly for kids with little quizzes about the book. There was also a maze you could go through. Like one of those choose your own adventures, but you had to follow like the book did or you had to start over. I was on that thing for hours, just having fun. I went through the whole thing and had a blast. If you take a wrong "turn", you have to start that level again. So I did that a few times. It is really good to see just how much you remember from the book. And it helps you remember the story. If you are interested in stuff like that, have a go. It is a way to get lost in the story. Here is the link for the maze:

And here is the link for the site itself:

Father' day is coming up fast, and since there are no funds, I have figured out what I can make for hubby. But I won't say what until I post the pic for it!

Wow

That is all I could say this afternoon. I left a comment on Yarn Harlot's blog, and she commented back! I feel as if I have been visited by royalty. She came to check out my sock! Thank you Stephanie!

I was also visited by someone who I have read since last August. Her's was the first blog I EVER read and it is what lead me down the blogging path eventually. I read her blog every day and she is such an inspiration. Her blog is Doodle-Head.com. Thank you Melissa, you lift my spirits daily.

I was so excited yesterday to get my pictures up, that I forgot to put pics of my two illusion scarves up. They aren't the best quality either, but gotta share.

I've got PICS!

I finally got my pictures saved to a file type I could upload. Yeah. Now I have proof I am actually doing something! LOL! But if you will excuse the quality, I don't have a good camera.

First of course we have to have pictures of the socks. I have obsessed about it enough. I have the one completed and the one in progress.

Now for the little purse I did while trying not to go crazy when I couldn't figure out that part of the sock pattern.

And here is a link to my 63 squares pictures. I thought that would be better than putting them all here. But I WAS tempted to.

And last but not least, one of my kids at Easter, just cause I can.
